February 11, 2008: Dick Carter and Judy Billings met with Revenue Secretary to discuss funding recommendations in SB 501 February 21, 2008: Amended SB 501 passed out of Senate Commerce Committee February 28, 2008: SB 501 passed out of the Senate onto the House of Representatives. Senate Vote: 33-7 Mid-March, 2008: Senator Jordan and Dick Carter met with House Speaker, House Minority Leader and House Economic & Development & Tourism Committee Leadership March 24, 2008: Hearing of Sub SB 501 in House Economic Development & Tourism Committee. 11 tourism colleagues testified. 40 tourism colleagues provided written testimony. March 25, 2008: Sub SB 501 moved to Interim Committee over the summer for "further study." April 1, 2008: Sub SB 501 discussed in Conference Committee containing SB 453, Rural Policy Commission Bill, for possible addition of Tourism Initiative to bill April 3, 2008: S Sub HB 2827 passed the Senate on a 32-7 vote. Amendments added addressed STAR Bond re-payment concerns, transfer of state employees to retain classified status and no harm to current obligation to Hwy. Fund Tranfers |
